Meat stock is a nutritional powerhouse supports taste, gut health, and the microbiome, addressing the underlying causes of selective eating habits. By incorporating meat stock into your child's daily meals, even in small amounts, you can help them become more adventurous with food.

We do recommend offering a small amount meat stock to children as is, so they can choose to eat it or try it. However, often we do need to also look at other ways to integrate it into their diet. Below are some ways we have popped down some of the practitioners favourite ways to serve up meat stock.

  1. Soup Base: Use meat stock as a base for their favourite soups. The flavour will be familiar for your child while they will benefit from the nutritional boost.

  2. Mashed Vegetables: Add meat stock to mashed potatoes instead of milk. It enhances the taste without being noticeable. Try pumpkin or cauliflower mash - delicious!.

  3. Sauces and Gravies: Use meat stock to make sauces and gravies for their favourite dishes. It blends in seamlessly with the flavours they already enjoy.

  4. Smoothies: Freeze meat stock in ice cube trays and add a cube to their fruit smoothies. The taste gets masked by the fruits (especially chicken stock), making it a stealthy addition. These can then be frozen into icy poles - which is another option if your child is not keen on smoothies.

  5. Gummies - Gummies can be popular with kids! Add some broth to your gelatin (we love grass fed gelatin like we have available in the Well Belly Shop) and some fruit puree.

It's all about making small changes for big results. Even the pickiest eaters won't know what hit them!
